While we await President Obama's decision on Afghanistan with baited breath, other parts of the region continue to move toward a cataclysmic showdown.
A calm before the storm seems to have descended over the Middle East. Israel has made another concession....that of giving in to Obama's demand to halt Jewish settlement activity on the West Bank. The move will provide only a momentary reprieve. Israeli concessions have not, nor will they ever work in stemming the tide of hatred. In fact, the current US diplomatic strategy has served to accomplish only one thing...the enemies of Israel have re-stocked and re-loaded. While we putter around in Afghanistan (in my opinion we should either fight to win or get out) the Middle East is steaming just under the surface and will soon reach a boiling point. What is the issue, besides the desire to drive the Jews into the sea? It's the LAND. Holy jihad is required when a land dominated by Islam is occupied by the infidel. Ishmael (Arabs) has claimed the land of Palestine as a birthright from Abraham. Though the Jews hold the ancient title deed and have always had a presence on the land, Palestine was dominated by Islam for several centuries. They claim it....and they want it back. Concessions of little portions of land will not fill the bill. They want it all...and will do whatever is necessary to get it all. To that end, a massive stockpiling of missiles has been taking place during this lull. Read the following bravado by a Lebanese/Hizbollah Sheiks from the Jerusalem Post.

Hizbullah will improve its weapons capabilities to face off any Israeli threat, the group's leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah's said Monday, adding that armed struggle was the only way to regain "Arab lands" captured by Israel. Nasrallah's remarks signaled the group has no intention of meeting a United Nations resolution requiring it to give up its weapons. Nasrallah gave no details on the weapons plans, but Hizbullah has said it has tens of thousands of rockets. The IDF contends that since the Second Lebanon War, Hizbullah has tripled its prewar arsenal to more than 40,000 rockets, some of which can strike virtually anywhere in Israel - a dramatic improvement over the short-range missiles fired in the 2006 conflict. Nasrallah said the buildup was necessary. "The continuation of Israeli threats against Lebanon ... force the resistance to seek more power in order to improve its capabilities," Nasrallah told reporters via video link from a secret location.

Many are asking if the events depicted in Psalm 83, Ezekiel 25, Jeremiah 12, and eventual Ezekiel 38 and 39 are about to take place. I wish I could say, but the Lord has only given us eyes to see the season, not the date. Israel continues to do its best to stave off war by following a diplomatic tact. They understand fully that any military action at this point will turn the entire world against them. Yet delay is allowing Iran to continue to develop its nuclear ambitions, rockets are being stockpiled by the thousands in Lebanon and Gaza, and anti-Israeli sentiment is being fed by international leaders, including our own. If 2009 ends without war in the Middle-East, 2010 will, in my opinion, prove to be an interesting year to say the least. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for the salvation of the Jews. Pray for a continued awakening to Christ among Muslims, whom God loves just as much as he does you and me.
