Our World: Accepting the unacceptable

Last weekend the mullahs took a big step towards becoming a nuclear power as they fueled the Bushehr nuclear reactor.Israel’s response? The Foreign Ministry published a statement proclaiming the move “unacceptable.”So why did we accept the unacceptable? When one asks senior officials about the Bushehr reactor and about Iran’s nuclear program more generally, their response invariably begins, “Well the Americans...”
Far from accepting that Israel has a problem that it must deal with, Israel’s decision-makers still argue that the US will discover – before it is too late – that it must act to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power in order to secure its own interests.

As for Bushehr specifically, Israeli officials explain that it isn’t the main problem. The main danger stems from the uranium enrichment sites. And anyway, they explain, given the civilian character of the Bushehr reactor; the fact that it is under a full International Atomic Energy Agency inspections regime; and the fact that the Russians are supposed to take all the spent fuel rods to Russia and so prevent Iran from using them to produce weapons-grade plutonium, Israel lacked the international legitimacy to strike Bushehr to prevent it from being fueled last weekend.

BEFORE GOING into the question of whether Israel’s decision-makers were correct in opting out of attacking the Bushehr reactor to prevent it from being fueled, it is worth considering where “the Americans” stand on Iran as it declares itself a nuclear power and tests new, advanced weapons systems on a daily basis.

The answer to this question was provided in large part in an article in the National Interest by former Clinton administration National Security Council member Bruce Riedel. Titled, “If Israel Attacks,” Riedel – who reportedly has close ties to the current administration – asserts that an Israeli military strike against Iran will be a disaster for the US. In his view, the US is better served by allowing Iran to become a nuclear power than by supporting an Israeli attack against Iran.He writes, “The United States needs to send a clear red light to Israel. There’s no option but to actively discourage an Israeli attack.”

Riedel explains that to induce Israel to accept the unacceptable specter of a nuclear armed mullocracy, the US should pay it off. Riedel recommends plying Israel’s leaders with F-22 Stealth bombers, nuclear submarines, a mutual defense treaty and perhaps even NATO membership.

Riedel’s reason for deeming an Israeli strike unacceptable is his conviction that such an operation will be met by an Iranian counter-strike against US forces and interests in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan. While there is no reason to doubt he is correct, Riedel studiously ignores the other certainty: A nuclear-armed Iran would threaten those same troops and interests far more. Riedel would have us believe that the Iranian regime will be a rational nuclear actor. That’s the regime that has outlawed music, stones women, and deploys terror proxies throughout the region and the world. That’s the same regime whose “supreme leader” just published a fatwa claiming he has the same religious stature as Muhammad.

A Thought

Let's narrow this down from a world scale to something on the personal level. While we decry the international community for its apparent acceptance of a "Nuclear Iran," do we use the same vociferous denunciation of against the displeasing things in our own hearts? Do we settle for the presence of actions, attitudes, or besetting sins that produce the same death as a nuclear weapon? The Spirit of God has been bringing this point to bear in my heart, causing me to reexamine what has become acceptable...things that have no more business taking up room in my life than Iran having nuclear weapons. We must remember that sin is death...meaning the presence of the unacceptable allows little seeds of death to sprout. If they are not dealt with quickly and severely, that stench of death can spread through every aspect of our lives and character. With the world in such peril, maybe we should do better at sweeping our hearts of death causing agents. Then, and only then, will we be able to stand in the face of the enemy's onslaught and proclaim the truth... "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe."

US to Sell Israel Massive Military Fuel Stocks Worth $2 Billion

On Aug. 6, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, DSCA, informed Congress of the sale to Israel of 60 million gallons of unleaded gasoline, 284 million gallons of JP-8 aviation jet fuel and 100 million gallons of diesel fuel at an estimated cost of two billion dollars. The date is significant, debkafile's intelligence sources find. Ten days earlier, the Japanese tanker M.Star was attacked in Omani waters of the Strait of Hormuz with 200,000 tons of oil.

Although American experts who examined the vessel, they never attributed the damage to sabotage by Iran or al Qaeda, despite the latter's claim of responsibility on Aug. 4 While Washington did its best to sweep the incident under the rug, Saudi intelligence were worried enough about the threat inching dangerously close to the Gulf's oil exporting lifeline to launch an independent investigation of the incident. Their investigators discovered it was staged by a Saudi terrorist who operates out of Iran under the orders of the Revolutionary Guards. To Riyadh, the episode looked like a blunt warning from Tehran to Washington and its allies about the consequences - not just of a direct strike against Iran's nuclear facilities, but the possibility of sanctions upsetting the equilibrium of the Islamic regime.
Blockage of the Strait of Hormuz would cut off Israel's primary source of fuel. Therefore, our sources report, a series of accords, some of them secret, have been transacted to back up America's standing commitment to keep Israel supplied with its energy needs in the event of armed conflict or crisis on world fuel markets.In its request to Congress to approve the sale, the DSCA noted: "The proposed sale of the JP-B aviation fuel will enable Israel to maintain the operational capability of its aircraft inventory. The unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel will be used for ground forces' vehicles and other equipment used in keeping peace and security in the region. Israel will have no difficulty absorbing this additional fuel into its armed forces."
debkafile adds: Israel is therefore ready and able to absorb this huge injection of military-purpose fuels.

Tehran published its response through an item on the Tabanak Website on Saturday, Aug. 28. It was headlined in large capitals: ISRAEL ORDERS MASSIVE MLITARY FUEL STOCKS FAR IN EXCESS OF THAT REQUIRED FOR NORMAL OPERATIONS. Our Iranian sources report that this site belongs to Mohsen Rezaei, ex-commander of the Revolutionary Guards and much respected in the highest Iranian military and intelligence circles. The Iranian site goes on to cite bloggers' comments, the most quoted of which comes from an anonymous ex-US Air Force officer, who wrote on Aug. 27: "I explained, as I have in the past, how it would be necessary for the US to supply the massive amounts of fuel need for such a [-n Israeli] strike. If Israel were to strike Iran, Israel would only require the massive amounts of jet fuel and over a billion litres of jet fuel would be more that enough to do the job in practical terms."
According to debkafile's military experts, the shelf life of JP-8 jet fuel is not long - no more than six to eight months.Also Saturday, the Kuwait Al-Rai claimed that Israel is making its last preparations for an attack on the Hizballah missile stores located in Syria close to the Lebanese border, for which an IDF armored division has been called up.

'Israel ready to destroy Lebanese Army in four hours'

Report: Lebanese paper claims US envoy told LAF chief that if border incident occurred again IDF would enact plan to destroy Lebanese military within four hours.


The US warned Lebanon that if it did not prevent any recurrence of the border-fire incident that occurred earlier this month, the IDF would destroy the Lebanese Armed Forces within four hours, Israel Radio cited a report by Lebanese newspaper A-Liwaa on Friday.

According to the report, Frederick Hoff, assistant to US Middle East Peace Envoy George Mitchell, told Lebanese Army chief of staff Jean Kahwaji that Israel was ready to implement a plan to destroy within four hours all Lebanese military infrastructure, including army bases and offices, should a similar confrontation occur in the future.




Syria must also be thrown into the mix....Lebanon (Tyre and Gebal in Psalm 83) is connected to the hip with Syria. Isaiah 17 states clearly that Damascus, histories oldest city which has never been destroyed, will be wiped out in a period of time described like this: "In the evening, horror. By morning, it will be no more." This war is coming. It is now only a matter of WHEN.

New Enticements to Ponder

Debkafile is reporting of a new, last minute effort on the part of the Obama administration to entice Israel to accept a NUCLEAR IRAN.

Envoys have been dispatched to Israel with the demand that Benjamin Netanyahu review the proposal and accept it within the next few days.

The Proposal is filled with Obamaesque enticements. (Beware of the handouts!)

To make Israel feel secure in the new reality, the US "proposed" four steps for strengthening the Israeli armed forces and lending it a second-strike capability - even against an Iranian nuclear attack.

1. The US must spread a nuclear umbrella over Israel that would entail the installation of American nuclear depots in Israel to show Tehran that a nuclear attack on the Jewish state would meet with a US nuclear response.
2. American nuclear submarines would be supplied to the Israeli Navy as the backbone of its nuclear counter-strike. There are two categories - ballistic missile submarines and attack submarines.
3. The Israeli Air Force would receive US F-22 Raptor stealth jets, the most sophisticated warplane in the skies today. They would be equipped with all the systems and ordnance needed to strike the Iranian nuclear program.
4. The US would arrange for Israel's full membership of NATO, so rendering an Iranian nuclear attack on Israel subject not just to US retaliation but a declaration of war by the 26-member alliance.
To qualify for these American security perks, a highly placed CIA source made it clear that Israel would be required to come to terms with a nuclear-armed Iran and eschew military action against it, a provision with debkafile's military and Jerusalem sources say the Netanyahu government is most unlikely to accept.
However, the proposal has a built-in contradiction. It portrays the Iranian leadership as consisting, behind their fiery rhetoric, of reasonable people who, when it comes down to it, will react to military and political pressure situations in a way that will not endanger their regime and their country's very survival.
However, this proposition does not take into account the Islamic Republic rulers' persistent threats to wipe Israel off the map (without regard to the hazards this would incur) or the Obama administration's conviction that if Israel attacks Iran, Tehran will hit back at US targets and interests (even more hazardous).

The obvious dilemma for Netanyahu is whether or not he can trust Barrack Obama to come through with his enticements. My question is how can Israel trust a man who has attempted to smooch his way into Islam's good graces while knowing Muslim radical elements are desirous of wiping them off the map. Obama has proven himself incapable of telling the truth, incapable of defending our allies, and incapable of doing what is morally right.

Just when you thought we had stepped away from the brink of war since Israel did not bomb the Bushehr site before it was fueled with uranium, this new development pushes the Middle East right back to the edge of the cliff.

Matthew 24 Signs on the Increase

More Birth Pangs: Floods, Drought, Pestilence, and Israel is in the Lurch
One of the clearest indications of the progression of Bible prophecy is the frequency of end-time events. In Matthew 24:8, we are told that the last days will be the tail-end of an exponential curve of activity. Jesus mentioned a great variety of signs—spiritual, natural, societal, and geopolitical—and then He said that these signs will be like "birth pangs."
As the birth of a baby approaches, the birth pangs increase two ways: frequency and intensity. Thus, Jesus was saying that the closer we get to the time of His return, the more frequent and intense the signs will become. There will be more earthquakes and more intense ones. Likewise, things like famine, pestilence, and war will increase in frequency and intensity.
This year started out with monstrous earthquakes striking the nations of Haiti, Chile, and China. The death toll from the Haiti quake has now risen to more than 230,000. The Chile earthquake is in the record books as the seventh-greatest earthquake ever recorded.
In the past few weeks, there has been an upsurge in birth-pang activity. Three categories stand out:
FloodsMany have been struck by noteworthy flooding. In April, the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro had terrible flooding. But the most remarkable flooding has occurred in Pakistan, where the deluge has been of epic proportions: 20 million people have been affected, with more than 1,400 dead, 900,000 homes damaged, and 3.5 million children at risk for waterborne diseases. One-fifth of the nation is now under water, and the rains are continuing to fall.
DroughtA severe drought in Russia has devastated the nation’s wheat crop. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin banned all exports of grain until the end of the year. The ban has pushed prices to their highest level in two years in the United States. Russian grain exports totaled 21.4 million metric tons last year, about 17 percent of the global grain trade. The Middle East is heavily dependant on Russian grain. Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer, is left to wonder whether current contracts with Russia will be honored. If we should have a drought in another country that is a key grain exporter, global famine could become a real possibility.
PestilenceThe World Health Organization called on health authorities around the globe to monitor a multi-drug-resistant superbug that surfaced in South Asia and spread to Britain. The WHO said a new gene enables some types of bacteria to be highly resistant to almost all antibiotics. With some bacterial strains, the death rate is as high as 30 percent.
In the U.S., there is a growing problem with bedbugs. The city of New York had 11,000 complaints about bedbugs last year. Bedbugs have been discovered recently in theaters, clothing stores, hotels, housing projects, and posh apartments. They have even been found in the Empire State Building.
This level of activity is amazing when you consider that the year is only a little more than half over. The Lord certainly seems to be trying to get man’s attention, but I can see that man's stubbornness is a huge obstacle. It amazes me to see how quickly historic disasters fade from memory.
Several news organizations are reporting that support for the flood victims in Pakistan may be suffering from donor fatigue. In the first two weeks of the crisis, the funds being pledged by rich nations are just 20 percent of the amount given for the Haiti earthquake. In the same way, there may be a birth-pang of fatigue at work. I have not seen prophetic awareness this low since the early 1990s.
God is very patient, but He is no fool. He is not going to send an endless number of warning signs. I would never say that apathy will force God to act, but it could be the calling card that the Almighty has decided to use to shake up our world.
"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth" (Luke 21:25-26).

Israel Keeps Pushing For International Pressure that will NOT COME

The Russians began the process of installing 80 tons of enriched uranium fuel rods into the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Saturday. It would have been nice to say that they ignored international pressure in doing so, but in reality, there was barely a whimper from the international community.

Debkafile is reporting that this lack of outcry stems from a deal made by Barrack Obama with Russia...that the Russians would not veto Obama's sanction proposals in the UN if the USA could somehow coerce Israel into staying on the sidelines and not bombing the facility. That is exactly what happened! Whatever pressure was applied was directed toward Israel...preventing them from launching an arial attack against Iran's nuclear ambitions.

So, the deed is done. Israel has chosen to wait a bit longer, under advice from the White House that said Iran is still a year away from actually developing a bomb. I hope they are right, because if Ahmadenijad has again hoodwinked the president (as happened last year when the US assessment stated that the Bushehr reactor would not go online for two year) then Israel will be the nation in the Mullah's cross hairs.

This development once again demonstrates the unpredictability of events in the Middle East. We have the big picture in Biblical prophecy, but we don't really have anything beyond speculation as to how the dots are going to line up.

Just remember that when it seems everyone has taken a deep breath and relaxed, all hell breaks loose. Don't let that happen to you. This train is still rolling down the tracks toward cataclysmic events in the region of the Holy Land.

Now there's a face for you, and Mahmoud Ahmadenijad certainly has reason to be giddy with excitement. Tomorrow, August 21, his Bushehr nuclear plant goes on line. Iran will be nuclear, that is unless Israel bombs the site in the next twelve hours.

Ahmadenijad has the world fooled. Today, the White House issued its assessment of Iran's march toward creating a nuclear bomb. Obama is trying to convince Benjamin Netanyahu that Iran is still a year away from developing a delivery capable nuclear warhead.

My take? If Obama says it....then you cannot count on it being true. There is too much evidence of appeasement coming out of the White House. Obama wants to appease Islam. He wants to appease the Palestinians. He wants to appease the Imam who wants to build a mosque two blocks from ground zero. Obama seeks to appease any and all things Arab. Do you really think his attempt to convince Netanyahu not to bomb Iran can be anything other than another stall tactic? Wake up!

The Middle East is poised for war. All that is needed is for someone to strike a match....like Israel striking Iran's nuclear reactor in Bushehr, or the processing sites at Isfahan and Natanz. While the so called "moderate" Islamic states are secretly cheering for Israel to strike, be assured that if they do, these same moderate states will turn on Israel so fast it will make your head go into a flat spin!

What is really sobering is knowing that this scenario could possibly be the event that sets off the two Showdown Wars of Psalm 83/Isaiah 17, and Ezekiel 38 and 39. We are nearing the boiling point in this drama. Are you ready?

The absolute worse thing that could happen in the 9/11 mosque controversy is being offered by New York governor, Gary Patterson. He has offered government land to the Imams who are seeking to build their mosque near ground zero. What happened to the "separation of church and state" that has been so often used against Christianity? This is a coup for Islam. President's sentiments on mosque made clear

A Messianic Jewish leader and supporter of Israel thinks President Obama's recent comments made to a Muslim group clearly illustrate his sentiments are with Islam -- just as he promised in his book The Audacity of Hope.

On Friday, President Barack Obama created a firestorm when at a White House Ramadan observance he told the Muslim audience he supported the right of the developers to build a mega-mosque near the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But over the weekend he added that he would not comment on the wisdom of building a mosque close to "Ground Zero."Opponents of the mosque have deemed his comment insensitive because the terrorists who struck the buildings in 2001 were Islamic extremists.Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, remembers what Obama wrote in one of his books."This is a bit of a paraphrase: 'When ill winds blow,' he said, 'I will always stand with the Muslims,'" she cites. [Editor's note - Actual quote: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."]

"I am not one who is saying that Barack Obama is a Muslim; we don't know that," the ministry leader continues. "But the fact is his sentiment is with the Muslims of the world, and his sentiment is with the Muslims of Manhattan. I'm quite sure that he would be very okay with a mosque just a stone's-throw away from 9/11."But Markell believes once Obama expressed his support for the project, he publicly backtracked because he realized that he could not be disrespectful of the families of the 9/11 victims, even though his sentiments might be with the Muslims.

Again, how do we react to these continuing stupidities?

1. Remember, our battle is not against flesh and blood....so don't become bigoted and a hater of Muslims. How can we share Jesus with them if we hate them? hmm?

2. If the church had been doing its job, staying on fire for Jesus, and not watering down the truth to eliminate the inerrancy of Scripture, the moving of the Spirit, signs and wonders, and the general rules of faith and conduct, we might not be in this mess. In other words, its time for the people of the ONE TRUE GOD to repent and get back to our first love.

3. Pray--Vote--Pray some more. Then tell your neighbors, colleagues, acquaintances, and everybody else about the grace of God in Christ. People really are hungry for the truth. Don't cover your light. The time to shine is NOW!

4. Jesus IS COMING, but that doesn't mean we may not go through hard times, including all out persecution for our faith before he shows up to take us home. Suck it up...develop tough skin and a tender heart...count it a blessing to suffer for Christ.

5. Stop messing around and get faithful to the Body of Christ.... In other words, get out of bed and go to church. Soccer, baseball, football, volleyball, basketball, and tiddly winks will all pass away. What you do for the Lord by worship and service will remain forever. Get with it!

---During his first two years in office, President Obama refused to acknowledge, or participate in the National Day of Prayer.

While these fact should not be an excuse for believers in Christ to become bigoted and haters of Muslims, it should give all patriotic Americans reason to fear for our nation. What God raised up as a shining light for the world is quickly passing into the twilight at the leadership of a man who has no moral foundation....other than Islam. God help us.

What do we do?

Pray for a fresh revival of the gospel in America.

Vote only for those who hold to the same moral foundation as given in the Bible.

Be aggressive (with much love) in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ openly, and at every opportunity.

This is our calling whether we live in a free nation or not!

Uncharted Territory in Middle East Tug-of-War

Obama was duped! Israel is now faced with a nightmare! Time is running out.

Again, we see Russia and Iran as the true instigators of Middle East volatility. Throw Turkey into the mix, and you have the ingredients of Ezekiel 38and 39.

The sudden announcement in Moscow and Tehran on Aug. 11 that Russia is set to activate Iran's first nuclear power reactor by loading the fuel on Aug. 21 has caused a major flap in Israel in view of the military aspects of the plant. debkafile's military sources report that only last week, high Israeli officials asked Washington for clarifications on the latest intelligence information that Moscow had decided to finally activate the Bushehr reactor after innumerable delays.
The White House called the Kremlin and was assured that President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minster Vladimir Putin stood by their pledge to President Barack Obama that the Russian-built nuclear plant would not go on line this year.
This pledge now proves worthless.Indeed, Rostratom director Sergei Kiryenko will attend the Bushehr launching ceremony.
Jerusalem is also worried by the news that Russia has stationed S-300 anti-missile batteries in Abkhazia on the Black Sea because it ties in with the imminent activation of the Bushehr reactor. It is taken as a signal that Israel's air route to Iran is hereby closed and Moscow will do its utmost to thwart an Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.

John Bolton, former US ambassador to the United Nations and adviser to the Bush administration, defined Moscow's date for loading nuclear fuel rods into the Iranian reactor as touching off a point of no return. Talking to Fox News Friday, Aug. 11, he said Aug. 21 is a deadline "by which Israel would have to launch an attack on Iran's Bushehr reactor before it becomes effectively 'immune' to assault."Once they are loaded, he warned, "an attack risks spreading radiation in the air and perhaps in the water of the Persian Gulf."

Bolton gave Israel no more than a week to destroy Iran's nuclear program. "If they're going to do it, that's all the window they have," he said, noting that Israel attacked the Iraqi Osirak reactor in 1981 and the nuclear plant Syria was building in 2007, before the fuel rods were in place.

Report: Al-Otari says conflict with Israel will always exist.

Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Otari dismissed the chances of peace ever being achieved in the Middle East in an interview with Syrian media."The conflict with Israel will always exist," said Otri in a report cited by the online website of Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar on Friday.
He also praised the conduct of the Lebanese Armed Forces in the border exchange that left one IDF soldier, three Lebanese soldiers and one Lebanese journalist dead. Otri went on to call Lebanon a military liability for the Syrian state. "Lebanon is the weak flank in Syria's back," he said. Al-Otari noted that despite its previous troop withdrawl, "Syria has returned to Lebanon stronger than before."

S-300 in Georgia...Blocking Northern Route to Iran

The more time that passes, the more complicated it is becoming for Israel if they want to take the step of attacking Iran's nuclear capabilities.

Debkafile is reporting today that Russia has installed its vaunted S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in southern Georgia. This effectively blocks the northern route Israel might have used in attacking Iran. The S-300 is the most advanced anti-aircraft battery on the planet, far superior to the the US Patriot defense system. The only aircraft able to penetrate an S-300 protected area is aircraft with stealth technology. The US has refused to proved that technology to Israel, i.e. the FA-18 Super Hornet.

Also remember that the S-300 has also been sold to Saudi Arabia, though it is not yet installed. When the Saudis have the system up and operable, the southern route to Iran will also be blocked. That leaves the route through Iraq as the only other option. So far, Obama's team of advisers have said "if Israel flies through Irag to get to Iran, we should shoot down their aircraft."

With a war footing now established on the Lebanese border, with Syria and Turkey teaming to install early warning systems on Mount Sannine in Lebanon, and with Iran declaring itself ready for a war with Israel, the window of opportunity for either the US or Israel to do something about Iran's nuclear designs is narrowing.

Though Obama seems to be acquiescing to a nuclear Iran and is hesitant about issuing an attack order himself, Israel's existence is at stake and a nuclear Iran is unthinkable.

Knowing this, and knowing Biblical prophecy, God is not going to allow Israel to be erased. (Amos 9:15) So, the logically prophetic next step is that Israel will soon do the deed alone and attack Iran.

The Psalm 83 war would be effectively ignited at that point or shortly thereafter! Are you ready?

Iran and Turkey Continue to Plot for War

Try this one on for size. Iran and Turkey, already teamed up to wreck havoc in the Middle East, are openly promising the arms necessary for Lebanon to strike up a war with Israel.

'Iran to give Hizbullah weapons'

Turkey and Iran are rumored to be helping Hizbullah obtain new weapons, Italian daily Corriere Della Sera reported on Wednesday evening.Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan reportedly met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Taeb to discuss relations between the two countries.

Sources told Corriere Della Sera that Turkey will "send sophisticated weapons, rockets and guns to Syria, that will end up in Lebanon," where the Iranian Army will ensure the weapons are transferred to Hizbullah.The Iranian Revolutionary Guards "will facilitate the transition, ensure safety, watch loads on the routes, and provide support to the border," the report said. The Iranians reportedly want to build a weapons network similar to that in the Sudan, and hope to help Hamas, as well.
The Italian newspaper reported that Western intelligence sources "view the Turkish-Iranian plot with concern, as they are obvious risks to safety.""The [intelligence] services in Ankara are among the best in the region," sources told Corriere Della Sera. "They have great knowledge of the Middle East, and know how to move on the routes of illegal trafficking."

Israel launches major military drill in north as Nasrallah tirade further enflames tensions

Hizbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah accused Israel of plotting to murder all of Lebanon's political and military leaders in a hysterical speech delivered Monday night, Aug. 9, vastly exceeding expectations that he would try to pin the 2005 Hariri murder on the Jewish state. Despite producing no evidence for his claims, his Iranian patrons stood at his side. And rocket fuel was thus poured on the already tense Israel-Lebanese, Israel-Syrian borders. Israel announced a large-scale military exercise to start the following morning, Tuesday, Aug. 10, and warned citizens to prepare for heavy tank traffic and the possibility of border areas being closed, Debkafile reported.
Meanwhile, Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki is enroute to Damascus to hold Bashar Assad back from his promise to Saudi King Abdullah to break away from Hizbollah. The Iranian ambassador called on the Lebanese chief of staff Gen. Jean Qahwaji Monday, strongly advising him to invoke the new Iranian-Lebanese military accord for replacing the US with Iran as the Lebanese army's main arms supplier. This as the US congress passed a bill freezing American military aid to the tune of $100 million due to the growing Hizbollah presence in the force, and the latest unprovoked border attack, reported using US weaponry.Attempting to hold the line in Beirut, Washington dispatched its top Syrian-Lebanese expert Fredric Hof to Beirut to warn Qahwaji against falling for the Iranian line or again embarking on cross-border aggression against Israel.

Nasrallah started out with an account of schemes he claimed Israeli agents had hatched against Lebanon in the 1990s and moved on to accusing Israel of plotting to murder Lebanese president Michel Suleiman, Chief of staff Gen. Jen Qahwaji, leader of the Shite Amal movement Nabih Berri, who is Speaker of Parliament, Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and leader of the Christian Phalange movement, Samir Geagea.
What motivates Israel to make a clean sweep of all Lebanon's pro-Western as well as pro-Iranian leaders? Nasrallah asked rhetorically. To which he answered: "To implicate Syria and Hizballah in the crimes, exactly as in the case of the Hariri murder" - which he claimed was committed by Israeli intelligence.
