Netanyahu Finally Draws a Line in the Sand

From OneJerusalem

This week, Prime Minister Netanyahu journeyed to the United States to speak to the General Assembly of Jewish Federations of North America and to meet with President Obama. Many stories have been written about the Obama meeting. Some have reported that Obama placed demands related to the Palestinians on Netanyahu before he agreed to meet him. Other reports suggested that Obama was not happy with Netanyahu's speech -- that it did not go far enough in uplifting the sagging political condition of Abbas.
Whatever stories may be true, one part of Netanyahu's speech deserves our undivided attention:
"Now, what do I mean by the Jewish state? It is a state in which all individuals and all minorities have equal individual rights. Yet our national symbols, our language our culture spring from the heritage of the Jewish people. And most importantly, any Jew from anywhere in the world has a right to immigrate to Israel and become a citizen. I want to make it clear: Any Jew, of any denomination, will always have a right to come home to the Jewish state. Religious pluralism and tolerance will always guide my policy. Now what does a Jewish state mean for the Palestinians? It means that they must recognize that the fantasy of flooding Israel with refugees is gone; that they give up irredentist claims to the Negev and to the Galilee, and that they declare unequivocally that the conflict is finally over."

Did these words upset Obama? For sure they rankled Abbas and his Fatah gang. Despite all their sophistication in addressing the Western press and elected officials, the Palestinian leadership have not figured out how to deal with the Jewish State problem. By throwing down the gauntlet on this issue Netanyahu goes to the heart of the divide between Israel, Obama, the EU and the PA as it interjects an uncomfortable fact: Abbas wants a Palestinian State but he does not want a Jewish State. Exposing his stance here is important, necessary, and long overdue. Abbas and Arafat before have been given a free pass on this seminal issue. Those days are over.

For decades, the world, including Israel's governments have allowed the Palestinians to establish un-historical claims to the land while they refuse to recognize a Jewish State. Even the talk about two states does not specify Israel as a Jewish State. Again let me emphasize that the State of Israel has not argued that Israel should be recognized as a Jewish State, until now. And why didn't Israel makes this argument? Because that stance would have ended so called "negotiations" with the Palestinians because they are adamantly opposed to a Jewish state - their end game is one Palestinian state. That is why they continue to claim that ancient Israel did not exist on this land. They continue to declare that Solomon's Temple never existed. Their fictional account of reality must be exposed. Prime Minister Netanyahu should be supported in this campaign for the Jewish State. When he delivered his first policy speech on relations with the Palestinians he declared that Israel must be recognized by the Palestinians as a Jewish state. After the speech, Abbas, President of the Palestinians, a man who looks so Western and civilized was asked if he would recognize Israel as a Jewish state. He refused to answer the question. Because his answer would be an unacceptable no. The fight for the Jewish State is now officially engaged.

Obama Snubs his nose at Netanyahu.

As of today, the Jerusalem Post reports with dismay that no meeting has been established by the White House between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama. Netanyahu arrives Sunday to address the Jewish Federation of North America. He will then remain in the United States for the entirety of the week, probably waiting for Obama's cold shoulder to warm. Since Obama will be addressing the same Federation the day after Netanyahu, there is no other way to explain it. In fact, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor clearly stated "There is no such meeting."
I'm sorry. I mean no respect to the Presidency of the United States, but there is a joker in the White House! The hotbed of the entire world is the Middle East. The United Nations General Council just voted to ratify the anti-Semitic Goldstone Report. Iran has walked away from the President's ridiculous attempt to extend a hand of peace to Ahmadinijad. It has been confirmed by the IAEA that Iran tested the components of nuclear weapon. Any President in his right mind, or with any mind, would at least call a meeting to speak his mind to the Prime Minister of the ONLY KEY ALLY in the entire region. But no. Obama will leave Netanyahu turning on the spit for as long as possible, probably expecting Bibi to make a deeper concession than he already has.
You would think these goofballs in the White House would have received some sort of training in diplomatic etiquette, let alone a few lessons in how to partner with an ally. But no. This bunch rides on the coattails of naivete as the evidence stacks up that Obama is partial to Islam. Israel is under the bus, and our President plans to keep it there.
May God forgive America for what she is doing, for electing such an anti-God, anti-American, anti-Truth apostle into the White House. It is OUR sin! It is our lack of vigilance. It is our own turning away from a whole-hearted following after God. (That would be JEHOVAH, not allah.) It is time to repent for the sin of backsliding. It must begin our our knees. From there, we'd better be following the leading of the Spirit of God. Brace yourselves, all hell is about to break loose, but so is the final harvest brought about by the Gospel.

US - Israel Relations Sour

An interesting article from Israel Insider.

US: Israeli diplomat slams Israel's policy
Consul general in Boston distributes letter titled, 'Sad thoughts on Israel-US relations'. Many circles in America, he writes, feel Obama administration 'is forced to deal with the disobedience of governments in Iran, North Korea and Israel'

Senior Israeli diplomat serving in United States launches scathing arrack on Netanyahu government's policy: Nadav Tamir, Israel's consul general in Boston, has distributed a letter saying that "an image of a conflict between the Israeli government and the Obama administration is harming the support for Israel in the public opinion, much more than the criticism over the aggressiveness and harm caused to civilians during Operation Cast Lead or the battle against Hezbollah in 2006."

The letter signed by the consul general was spread in wide circulation among Israeli delegates in the US and Foreign Ministry officials, and was also sent to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The three-page document, titled 'Sad thoughts on Israel-US relations', was first reported by Channel 10. It includes some harsh statements on the deteriorating relations between Washington and Jerusalem. "The favored Israeli approach is to always say to the Americans 'yes, but…' over 'no'. It has been clear to our decision makers that this is the most important power in the world, as well as our closest ally.

"Therefore, we must sacrifice tactical issues for the sake of strategic ties… One can mention Prime Minister Sharon's positive response to the Road Map, despite a long list of reservations… It should be mentioned that there have always been differences in the two countries' approaches, whether in terms of the settlements or, for example, in terms of Hamas' participation in the Palestinian elections, but the level of coordination between the governments was maintained."

Tamir added that "the damage in the American public opinion's support is already apparent in recent public opinion polls, and the damage is expected to be even worse… Many circles in America feel these days that while the Obama administration is attempting to solve conflicts across the world, it must deal with the disobedience of the governments in Iran, North Korea and Israel.

'We're not sacrificed in favor of Muslims'
He warned that "the sense of conflict between the Israeli government and the Obama administration puts the American Jewish community in an extremely problematic place, where it must choose between the two… and this conflict draws many of them away from the State of Israel."

After expressing his concern over a recent poll showing that the support for US President Barack Obama in Israel is the lowest in the world, the consul general noted that "the Americans are trying to reduce the publicity of disagreements, while we are the source of making these differences public.

"As for the suspicions over the Obama administration's alleged intention and willingness to sacrifice Israeli interest for the sake of moving close to the Muslim world, I see no such indication," Tamir wrote.

"The Obama administration is determined to show leadership in order to deal with the two most strategic challenges Israel is facing: The threat of Iran and its messengers and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict...

"There is not country in the world which can benefit more from the American move than us, and I wonder why we prefer to stress negative tactical issues over the positive strategic move, when we 'focus on the trees instead of on the forest.'"

Tamir concluded by recommending a "dramatic change" in Israel's relations with the American administration. "I suggest talking about our aspirations for peace and our support for the two-state solution in a more convincing manner and not as if we are giving in to American pressure…

"We can influence the ongoing American policy in terms of Iran, Syria and the Palestinian much more if we restore our status as partners to the administration's moves, rather than as a country which has to be communicated with through State Department briefings, as done with Venezuela or North Korea."

The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that "the letter in question is not worthy of a response." However, a senior official close to the prime minister said that "this is an unprofessional document worded like Friday evening chitchat, and reflects the writer's personal political opinion.

"The document's title and the fact that it was distributed to dozens of different elements leads us to conclude that it is a documents aimed at making the writer's political thoughts public, rather than a professional diplomatic text. It's a shame that an Israeli diplomat launched such an attack on Israel's policy, attempting to cause deliberate damage."

My C0mmentary: The fact that the US-Israeli Relationship is being questioned at all is a sign that we are living in perilous times. When you see the President or his envoys continually re-affirming a relationship you can be certain the relationship is strained. This does not bode well for America.

Obama Continues To Push in the Wrong Direction

In recent weeks, the President has hosted numerous left-wing Jewish/American groups to the White House, supposedly discussing and forming in depth plans as to how to force Benjamin Netanyahu to conform to Obama's plan for peace. It is no coincidence that no conservative or pro-settlement groups have been invited.
Now, President Obama has taken his pressure to a new level. Not only has he spoken out against Jewish settlement due to "natural growth," (population) he is now placing Jerusalem in the category of a Jewish settlement. Wake up, Mr. President, Jerusalem is the Capitol of the State of Israel. It is not a settlement. It is a city in which both Jews and Arabs have the right to grow, build, and live. It is only the Jews who are not allowed to worship on their history Temple Mound. It is only the Jews who are in the American President's cross hairs. And I make no bones about it. Pressuring Israel on the subject of dividing Jerusalem is another in a growing list of fatal mistakes being made by Barack Obama.
The following is a Jewish take on the situation. From today's Debka Files...(More commentary to follow.)
Netanyahu rejects US demand to cancel East Jerusalem housing project
DEBKAfile Special Report
July 19, 2009, 10:59 AM (GMT+02:00)

Opening the weekly cabinet session Sunday, July 19, Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu sharply rejected the US State Department demand handed to Israeli ambassador Michael Oran to put a stop to construction work at the Shepherd's Hotel site in Jerusalem. The abandoned hotel is located between the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah and Mount Scopus, where the Hebrew University and Hadassah are situated.

Netanyahu stressed the issue of construction in Jerusalem, capital of Israel and the Jewish people, is not open to discussion. Hundreds of Arab residents have purchased apartments in the west of the city without difficulty, he pointed out, and there is no bar on Jews buying or building on the eastern side. Building permits are issued by city authorities for Jews and Arabs alike in the open, undivided city of Jerusalem, said Netanyahu.

The Shepherd's Hotel site originally belonged to the Grand Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini and his heirs turned it into a hotel in the years between 1948 and 1967 when Jews were forbidden to set foot in Jerusalem. In the 1980s, the Husseinis sold the site to American businessman Irwin Moskowitz who intends building a 20-apartment Jewish housing estate there.

DEBKAfile's political sources add: The left-wing Meretz party leader Haim Oron predictably supported the US demand issued in response to a protest from Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas. This circular process has become a regular feature of US-Israeli relations, usually beginning with left-wing Israeli activists "alerting" the US administration to Jewish construction activity on the West Bank and Jerusalem in order to trigger a Palestinian complaint and invoke American pressure on the Israeli government.

Moskowitz has devoted himself to purchasing land from Palestinians in east Jerusalem for the construction of Jewish neighborhoods. Likewise, Jewish neighborhoods abutting on east Jerusalem and the West Bank, such as French Hill and Pisgat Zeev, have in recent years attracted a growing number of Palestinians apartment purchasers.

Netayahu has made it clear, like his predecessors, that Jerusalem is no "settlement."
___________
I say, more power to Bibi! Someone must stand up to the growing idiocy coming out of Washington D.C. Remember it is all written. Ezekiel 38 and 39 speak to the issue of Israel standing alone in the face of overwhelming opposition and threat. Verse thirteen of chapter thirty-eight says; "Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish (peoples of the West) and all its leaders will say to you. 'Have you come to seize spoil? Have you assembled yours hosts to carry off plunder...." This is not a military defense of Israel. It is diplomatic-speak for "We need to talk about this!" Nothing more by way of assistance will come from the West. What a sad state of affairs to see this beginning to happen in 2009.
In the end, whether America survives Barack Obama or not, it will be the God of Israel that stands up and comes to the rescue for his people. "And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am (Yahweh) the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. Behold, it is coming and it will be brought about; declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken." 39:7-8
Oh my.....buckle your seat belt. Be found on the side of God's covenant people. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and wisdom for Benjamin Netanyhu. Pray for President Obama to wake up before he places our precious country and heritage under a curse!

Did Netanyahu Snap?

A report has broken out concerning Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meeting with Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. While it was a closed meeting there are rumors that the two men had a slight falling out. Allegedly Steinmeier, like Obama and other European leaders, pushed Netanyahu on the settlements issue and their demand that all natural settlement growth cease. Netanyahu's alleged response was somewhat undiplomatic. He supposedly said, " "Judea and Samaria cannot be judenrein." Evidently a brief firestorm ensued, and liberals in Israel immediately began passing the word that Netanyahu had snapped, lost his mind.
Netanyahu's choice of words sends us back to the Nazi era. Netanyahu was saying that the West Bank will not be a place ethnically cleansed of Jews. For arguments sake let's accept the report. If so, are the critics right that he was undiplomatic -- he overreacted--he snapped? It seems that when a representative of the Jewish people sets politics aside and defends his own people he is guilty of being out of line. Maybe Netanyahu decided to push back against the constant pressure by the Germans, The French, the whole of the European Union, and the Americans. Since taking office, they have treated him and Israel as squatters, second class world citizens, and a vassal state. (Pick your own description.) They clearly feel that Israel needs to have a finger wagged in its face. They feel that the future of the capital of Israel, Jerusalem, should be decided by them and not the people of Israel. They feel that hundreds of thousands of Jews in Judea and Samaria should be transplanted somewhere else. The problem is they not only feel these things deeply, (As is the way of those who live by emotions rather than by a moral foundation) they are determined to make their feelings reality. If Netanyahu used this language we say, Bravo.
Finally, there is an Israeli Prime Minister who is willing to stand up and fight for the State of Israel. Netanyahu is a linguist who knows the power of words. He knows that showing any signs of weakness will only lead the Germans and Obama to keep on pushing back. Netanyahu should be praised for saying that the State of Israel will not be party to expelling Jews from their legal homes. Sharon/Olmert/Livni did that and we watched synagogues burned to the ground by Palestinians and Jews forcefully ejected from their homes. And in that vacuum, terrorism steps in, being lead by Hamas. It appears that is not about to happen again anytime soon.
The sound of distant thunder is on the horizon. Though we stand up and cheer for Netanyahu and his 'snap,' the world will not react favorably to his words. They see themselves as the bank of all the world's wisdom and will, in their smug lecturing begin to form up to force the Palestinian issue. Keep an eye on the reactions that are soon to come, especially in regards to Gog and Magog. Bible Prophecy is being fulfilled at an amazing pace.

Iran Can Have A Bomb Within A Year

This from Herb Keinon in the Jerusalem Post

Both the US and Israel believe Iran has the technical capacity to build one nuclear bomb within a year if it decides to do so, but both countries also believe the chances that Tehran will indeed make that decision are slim, according to assessments made known to The Jerusalem Post.

According to these Israeli assessments, there is not much difference now between the US and Israel regarding a timeline for a "worst case scenario" on Iran's development of a bomb. At the same time, both Jerusalem and Washington currently believe that "worst case scenario is not likely to materialize."

The assessments come in the wake of comments made Sunday by US Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to the effect that Iran could be as little as a year away from completing a nuclear bomb, while Mossad head Meir Dagan recently surprised many by saying Iran won't have a nuclear weapon until 2014.

"I would be careful about all the declarations on this matter," said one senior government official who deals with the issue, adding that a decision by Tehran to go full throttle toward the building of a bomb was dependent on numerous different decisions the government would have to make, and which it had simply not yet made.

It is becoming increasingly evident that, although intelligence agencies can predict when Iran will be capable of building a nuclear device, no one actually knows if they will do it. If anything, Mahmoud Ahmadinijad and his regime have proven themselves predictably unpredictable. That analysts would downplay Iran's intent borders on naivete. Placing a POSITIVE spin on terrorism again demonstrates that Biblical Prophecy is being ignored.

It is also being reported today that Benjamin Netanyahu and Syria's President Assad are exchanging notes by means of a third party. That tells me that Israel is beginning to exercise a certain desperation in finding some scant hope for peace before it must take unilateral action against Iran. It is an honorable effort, but it will not be rewarded beyond being something that is only temporary in nature.
God has already spelled out in great detail what is quickly approaching around the corner. Read Ezekiel 38 and 39, compare it to current events, and you will see prophecy being fulfilled before your very eyes.

Sarkozy Inserts Himself Into Israeli Politics

From Israel Insider

During their meeting last week in Paris, French President Nicolas Sarkozy urged Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to replace Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman with Tzipi Livni, dovish chairman of the Kadima party, who held the top diplomatic post under disgraced former PM Ehud Olmert." With her and [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak you can make history," Sarkozy told Netanyahu, according to a Monday night report on Israel TV's Channel 2 News. "I have always accepted Israeli foreign ministers, and I loved having Tzipi Livni here at the Elysee [Palace], but with [Lieberman] I can't."

The French leader reportedly made a dismissive hand gesture when mentioning the Israeli Foreign Minister. The Prime Minister's Office refused to confirm the Channel 2 report, according to which Sarkozy had told Netanyahu in Paris last week, "You need to get rid of this man...You need to remove him from this position." Livni, he reportedly said, made a strategic mistake in refusing to join Netanyahu's cabinet. But, in addition to Netanyahu, three Israeli officials reportedly heard the undiplomatic statements by Sarkozy.

Netanyahu tried to mollify the French leader by saying that Lieberman's public persona is different than the impression one gets of him in private conversation. Sarkozy responded by saying that far-right, anti-Semitic French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen of the National Front is also "pleasant" in private conversations."You can't compare the two men," Netanyahu said. "Lieberman is not Le Pen." The French leader then denied he was trying to compare them at all.

This week, the Prime Minister's Office refused to comment on Netanyahu's talks with Sarkozy, adding that Foreign Minister Lieberman has Netanyahu's full support. But Netanyahu's problems may be getting worse. An inquiry by Ynet, internet site of the leading Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot, reveals the the Prime Minister's office instructed all participants in the meeting with French president not to inform anyone of its content. Even Lieberman was unaware of demand to replace him. The Israeli ambassador to France Danny Shek, who took part in the meeting, did not inform his boss of the criticism. Two other senior officials who were present at the meeting and did not disclose its content were Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz and Environment Protection Minister Gilad Erdan. Nor did National Security Advisor Uzi Arad.

Conversations held Tuesday morning revealed that the foreign minister was unhappy with Netanyahu's conduct. "We don't refer to conversations with world leaders, as well as routine talks held on a permanent basis between the prime minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman," spokesman Nir Hefetz told Ynet. "All we can say is that the prime minister has a lot of appreciation for Minister Lieberman." Lieberman is choosing to ignore Sarkozy's harsh remarks. "Everything is wonderful," he said to those who asked him about the affair on Tuesday morning. " It's not interesting, apart from the fact that I am now included among world leaders like (US President) Barack Obama, Angela Merkel of Germany and the Spanish prime minister, all of whom have been the focus of Sarkozy's remarks."

Lieberman's public relations advisor, Tzahi Moshe, commented Monday that, if true, Sarkozy's comments represent a "serious and intolerable... intervention of the president of a respected democratic country in the affairs of another democratic country." President Sarkozy prefers diplomatic affairs with women to men in the Cabinet, and undiplomatic ones in the boudoir. He had an affair with the wife of one of his present Cabinet members about four years ago, when he was serving as Interior Minister, according to the former head of French police intelligence. The alleged episode was one of a multitude of damaging secrets reported yesterday from the private notebooks of Yves Bertrand, who was central director of the powerful Renseignements Généraux (RG) spy agency for 12 years until 2004.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday night saying: "We expect every political institution in Israel to condemn this blatant intervention of a foreign country in our private affairs, no matter what its political stance." Minister of National Infrastructure Uzi Landau, a leader in Lieberman's Israel Beiteinu party, reacted to the Channel 2 report on Tuesday morning in an interview on IDF Radio." It's difficult for me to believe that a leader of a friendly country could make such remarks," Landau said, "but were I the Prime Minister, and such comments were made in my presence, I would bang on the table and object. That's how a prime minister should conduct himself to defend his country's honor."

In May of this year, Foreign Minister Lieberman made his first diplomatic tour of Europe. He visited Paris and met with the Secretary General of the Presidency, Claude Guéant, but not with Sarkozy.Media in Israel speculated that the leak of Sarkozy's remarks must have come from supporters of Netanyahu or Livni, in a broad "hint" for Lieberman to step aside. The Prime Minister has expressed a willingness to invite Livni into his cabinet and invite her to once again serve as Foreign Minister, which would necessitate removal of the head of Israel Beitenu, at least from the Ministry.

Middle East News

As President Obama carries out an elaborately staged theatrical performance in signing an anti-smoking bill into law, the world of geo-politics continues to shift and re-position. Protests in Iran continue, and so does the crackdown. An estimated 600 have been wounded, and 19 have given their lives in search for freedom. (Our President is keeping his hands off, not even supporting those seeking liberation from the Mullah-dominated theocracy.) In the mean time, Israel continues to reach out diplomatically to its neighbors. The following is from the Debkafile.

Iran crisis tightens top-level Israel-Egyptian-Saudi strategic interaction
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
June 21, 2009, 8:49 PM (GMT+02:00)

Israel's defense minister Ehud Barak said his talks in Cairo Sunday, June 21, with President Hosni Mubarak, Egyptian defense minister Gen. Tantawi and intelligence minister Gen. Omar Suleiman were interesting and wide-ranging. They covered Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, US president Barak Obama's Middle East peace initiative
and the case of the abducted Israeli soldier Gilead Shalit, now three years in Hamas captivity.
A round meeting of all four was followed by separate discussions with the key officials of the two governments five weeks after Binyamin Netanyahu traveled to Sharm el-Sheikh for a conference with the Egyptian president on May 11 shortly before he took office as Israeli prime minister.
DEBKAfile's political sources report The Cairo conference further solidified the understanding forged between Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia six months ago, which none of the parties acknowledge formally.
One of its aspects is Israel's willingness to take its Arab partners' interests into account in its military policy. This consideration guided Israel in ending its Gaza offensive in January short of wiping out the Palestinian extremist Hamas.
The three neighbors are bound by the common objective of halting Iran's Middle East expansion and curtailing its nuclear aspirations by means of diplomatic, military and intelligence cooperation, or alternatively, to minimize the menace posed the region from Tehran.
For most of the time, the three partners have worked together quietly and ad hoc. Then US President Barack Obama and Netanyahu used their speeches to bring the arrangement out in the open when they spoke of a breakthrough in Israel-Arab regional relations to accompany Israel-Palestinian peace talks.
There are no direct Israel-Saudi official contacts, DEBKAfile's Middle East sources report. They use Cairo as a letterbox with Gen. Suleiman hopping over to Riyadh to deliver messages as needed. Israeli and Saudi intelligence chiefs are thought to have had one secret meeting in an Arab capital.
Iran obviously figured high on the agenda of Barak's talks with Egyptian leaders. In fact it was the first time that the two governments had ever admitted to discussing regional affairs unrelated to bilateral or Palestinian issues. There is no doubt that both Jerusalem and Cairo urgently needed to trade views, intelligence input and evaluations on where the unrest in Iran is heading next.
Regarding Lebanon, Egyptian leaders and the Israeli minister explored the implications of the pro-Iranian Hizballah's loss of the March 8 election to the pro-western majory.
On the Palestinian issue, they talked about mending the fences between Fatah and Hamas, a sine qua non for progress in Israel-Palestinian peacemaking.
The Israeli prime minister remarked Sunday as Barak was on his way to Cairo that the demands he made of the Palestinians in his June 14 speech as necessary for peace were not pre-conditions was meant to smooth the way for the minister's talks in Cairo. In that speech, Netanyahu said he would accept a Palestinian state alongside Israel provided it was demilitarized and the Palestinians recognizes Israel as a Jewish state.

The Ultimate Back-Peddler

Australian journalist/blogger Andrew Bolt points us to a story in the Sydney Morning Herald by Jason Koutsoukis about a very interesting phone call between President Obama and Israeli PM Netanyahu.Apparently, the administration was worried that their campaign to undermine Bibi's government had gone "too far," and Obama was attempting a little damage control:

There has been widespread public concern in Israel about the country's relationship with Washington since Mr Obama demanded that Mr Netanyahu publicly endorse the creation of a Palestinian state and freeze all construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Mr Netanyahu has refused to accept either demand and will unveil his plan to restart the peace process with the Palestinians in a speech to be delivered on Sunday.Mr Netanyahu was scheduled last night to meet Mr Obama's special envoy to the region, George Mitchell, to try to mediate a way forward.Israeli media reported that Monday's phone conversation between Mr Obama and Mr Netanyahu was conciliatory.Israel's biggest selling newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, quoted an unnamed aide to Mr Netanyahu who said the "conciliatory tone stemmed from the fact that the Americans realise they went too far and that, ultimately, Netanyahu is the partner that they have, and they must embrace him, not topple him".
You may want to duck....stuff has hit the fan again and is spreading your way. (You can decide what the stuff is.) Remember, Barack H. Obama has proven himself to be the master manipulator in just five short months in office. He sees behind the scenes in Israel, that Netanyahu needs to be soothed, not challenged. Smooch.
But in Obama's manipulative tunnel vision, he doesn't get the fact that people like Benjamin Netanyahu are smarter than he. They see through him. Netanyahu knows that Obama will betray Israel if Israel is forced to confront Iran militarily. Amazingly, I have friends who still believe, when it is all said and done, that Obama will come to Israel's aid should things go sour. It is not only frustrating to see the President backsliding toward the ultimate curse, but many Americans remain blind to the realities of today's world. WAKE UP AMERICAN CHRISTIANS!

Israel Steps Up Its Preparedness

May 31, 2009
JERUSALEM -- Israel began its biggest civil defense drill in the country's history.

The five-day drill, which will include a 90-second siren sounded across the entire nation on Tuesday morning, began Sunday.

The exercise will involve various governmental offices, local authorities, security and rescue teams, the Israeli education establishment and other public and private institutions, according to the IDF Spokesman's Office.

The exercise is aimed at improving Israel's national preparedness by exercising the coordinated operation of its emergency response institutions during emergencies. The exercise will examine the simultaneous functioning of the various institutions in order to highlight possible areas for improvement.

The drill, taking place for the third year in a row and code-named Turning Point 3, will be the most extensive ever held in Israel. The question is why? What does Israeli officials see coming?

Israel has lived with the need for preparedness since it burst into existence on May 14, 1948. It has functioned in a heightened state of alert since it was born. So what gives? While the Obama administration plays politics with the Supreme Court, those who seek the destruction of the West continue to look outward for ways of accomplishing their goals. While Obama cuts the anti missile defense budget by one third, Iran test fires their latest version of an intercontinental missile.

Could it be that Benjamin Netanyahu has finally given up hope that America will do anything other than pressure it to back down and give up land? Is he seeing the hand writing on the wall? Israel is alone. How many more weeks will pass before Netanyahu sends an armada of F-16 Lightning fighters to put a stop to Iran's nuclear progress? And finally, if this is the course that Netanyahu takes, what will Iran's biggest ally do.....how will Russia respond?

The answer to that question is written. Check it out in Ezekiel 38 and 39.
